Diabetology

Glucose is the body’s main source of energy. Cells can only absorb and use the glucose circulating in the blood in the presence of insulin. Blood glucose levels, measured from a blood sample, can indicate a pre-diabetic condition or diabetes that has already developed.

Without regular screening, diabetes is often only diagnosed once it has already developed. Diabetes cannot be cured, but with appropriate medication, diet and regular exercise, its progression and possible complications can be prevented.
Untreated diabetes can lead to serious, irreversible complications, so it is extremely important to have your blood tested regularly and to see a specialist promptly if you have any symptoms.

No special preparation is required for the specialist examination.

The specialist examination includes:

• an assessment of your diet, eating habits and lifestyle
• a physical examination
• a review of any existing test results
• finally, a decision on the appropriate treatment and/or any further tests needed

Please bring any previous test results, medical records and laboratory reports, as well as the medication you are currently taking, to the examination.

Please note that Dr Erzsébet Rigó’s diabetology clinic only sees patients aged 18 and over.
