Healing and relaxation in one place
One of the greatest conveniences of the cure is that you do not even have to leave the hotel for your medical treatments. The therapy department of the Vitalium Health Centre, the thermal pools, the wellness area and the hotel services provide everything you need for relaxed regeneration in one place.
The therapies on offer include, among others, special packs, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy, mechanotherapy, ultrasound, weight bath and Hévíz mud treatments.
Traditional Hévíz Cure
Our hotel proudly holds the Traditional Hévíz Cure trademark, which certifies the high professional standard of the traditional treatments based on Hévíz medicinal water and the facilities they require. Natural healing factors, decades of experience and personalised therapies work together to help relieve musculoskeletal complaints and support regeneration.
The black miracle
Hévíz mud is most commonly used in the form of mud packs during treatments. The main advantage of a mud pack is that it keeps the treated area warm, which stimulates blood circulation and relieves pain. The treatment lasts about 20 minutes and should be followed by at least half an hour of rest for maximum effect. Mud packs are particularly recommended for chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as joint wear, calcification and inflammatory diseases. Please note that mud packs may only be applied on medical prescription.
Our speciality
The weight bath is an underwater treatment that gently separates the vertebrae, helping to stretch the spine. This can help restore the healthy condition of the intervertebral discs. During the treatment, the guest is gently suspended in the pool while the buoyancy of the water relaxes the body and the weights (2–3–5 kg) gently stretch the spine. The treatment is painless, and the weights are placed on the body according to the condition being treated.
How does the cure work?
Medical treatments require a prior medical examination. During the specialist examination, a personalised treatment plan and schedule are drawn up based on the assessment and your medical history, taking indications and contraindications into account. Follow-up examinations are also available during the cure if needed.
What makes Hévíz medicinal water special
The calcium-magnesium-hydrogen-carbonate, sulphurous medicinal water of Lake Hévíz contains numerous dissolved minerals, including calcium, magnesium, hydrogen carbonate and sulphur compounds, and it is also mildly radioactive. Together, its composition and natural temperature make it the basis of balneotherapy in Hévíz.
When you bathe in the medicinal water, its buoyancy takes the load off the joints and the warm water helps the muscles relax, so as part of a complex cure, bathing can help reduce pain and improve mobility.
The value of medicinal mud
The bed of Lake Hévíz is covered with a special medicinal mud with a high organic content. Both plant-based organic matter and mineral components play a role in its formation, so it combines the properties of organic and mineral muds.
Thanks to its excellent heat retention, the mud releases warmth slowly and evenly to the treated area. The mud pack is one of the traditional treatments of the Hévíz cure and is applied mainly for musculoskeletal complaints, on the recommendation of a specialist.
Weight bath – a Hévíz tradition
This treatment performed in water is one of the best-known therapeutic methods in Hévíz. The history of the weight bath is particularly closely linked to the Moll family: the method was developed by Dr Károly Moll.
