Conscious support for recovery
The success of surgery for musculoskeletal problems (whether hip or knee surgery/replacement, or certain spinal operations and injuries) depends greatly on the patient’s preoperative condition and the quality of post-operative rehabilitation. To help restore your previous quality of life, we offer both preoperative and post-operative rehabilitation, effectively supporting preparation for surgery and recovery afterwards.
Beyond musculoskeletal problems, the rehabilitation of neurological conditions is also important for recovery. After the acute phase, starting therapeutic exercise and physiotherapy as early as possible helps prevent severe restrictions of movement and plays a major role in regaining the ability to walk and live independently. Throughout the therapies, we work with a holistic approach, following a personalised treatment plan.

In the post-operative or immediate post-injury phase of rehabilitation, it is professionally important to distinguish between the early and late stages, as this plays a decisive role in choosing the right treatment. The pace of rehabilitation and the recovery time are greatly influenced by the surgical technique used, the patient’s age and their general fitness before surgery.
In the early phase of rehabilitation, we focus primarily on physiotherapy to improve mobility, promote wound healing and boost circulation in the limbs. It is important that movement – that is, personalised therapeutic exercise performed by the patient – starts as soon as possible so that restriction of range of motion can be avoided. After knee surgery, our CPM machine allows functional treatment to begin immediately after the operation, with machine-guided movements preparing the operated limb for strengthening physiotherapy. With our BEMER magnetic therapy, REPULS and cryotherapy treatments, we can effectively relieve pain, speed up wound healing and reduce oedema. In the early phase, we also pay particular attention to wound healing and wound care, under regular medical supervision.
In the later phase of therapy, rehabilitation conditioning begins, improving the patient’s fitness, muscle strength, speed and endurance. We also place great emphasis on treating the whole body, stability, correcting established poor movement patterns, and developing balance and coordination. Once the wounds have healed, Hévíz medicinal water and other elements of the Traditional Hévíz Cure can also be actively included in rehabilitation.

*The final content of our offer depends on the type of operation and the patient’s state of health, which we finalise during a prior written assessment and a telephone consultation. If it is possible to involve the surgeon in the consultation, we will gladly tailor the treatment programme to their guidance and indications.
Important additional information on using the package
- When booking for the period within 0–4 weeks after surgery (before the removal of stitches and wound healing), a preliminary assessment questionnaire must be completed, with a telephone consultation if required; depending on this, additional costs may apply.
- Please bring your medical records relating to your general state of health and the operation!
- Our hotel can accommodate guests who are continent, weight-bearing and mentally healthy. We are unable to care for guests with conditions involving seizures, severe heart or kidney failure, or guests who are bedridden.
- The offer includes rehabilitation services for 1 person; if our patient arrives with a companion, we can offer a companion room rate.

To complement the rehabilitation treatments, the various specialist medical services of our Health Centre are also available to our patients, so they can give their health full attention at the same time and in one place. In an exclusive setting, with extended medical services, ultrasound diagnostics, a Synlab priority blood collection centre and a day surgery operating theatre, it offers a full range of services for guests who wish to take an active role in their health.
The Health Centre’s services primarily follow the principles of Western medicine, with openness towards complementary medicine. The patient is always at the centre. The guiding principle of our professionally trained and empathetic medical team is preserving health and preventing illness.
